It looks like the conclusion to Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy has landed a new actor: Keri Russell. According to Variety, Russell and Disney are in negotiations to finalize the Americans actress for a “major” role in the movie
Russell, who just wrapped up the final season of FX’s hit show The Americans, has plenty of action and fight scene experience from that show’s set, as well as from her roles in Mission: Impossible and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. And it looks like it’ll come in handy, as Variety reports “the part calls for many action-heavy fight scenes.”

The Variety report also mentions that there are two more “major” roles still yet to be cast, leading to speculation about just how these mystery roles will play into the movie’s story.
John Boydega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) are all expected to return.
Who will Russell’s character be? What role will she play in the conclusion of the sequel trilogy? We’ll have to wait until next year to find out.
The still-untitled ‘Episode IX’ is set to hit theaters December 20, 2019.
