New Doom Patrol extended trailer reveals each team member’s origin story

Misfits, crashing race cars, mental health, and affairs.

With only one day to go until the premiere of DC Universe’s newest live-action series, Doom Patrol, the streaming service is pumping up fans with a brand new extended trailer that just dropped. The trailer is a whopping four minutes and forty-one seconds long and contains a bunch of new footage that shows the tragic origin story for each member of the team — excluding Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton).

The trailer opens with Negative Man helping a recovering Robotman around a big house, and then the two begin recounting their tragic origin stories to one another. Larry Trainor aka Negative Man, reveals that he was an air force pilot who encountered some kind of entity while on a flight, causing him to crash.

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

Cliff Steele aka Robotman is shown sitting on a couch with Rita Farr aka Elasti-Woman, and shares that he used to drive race cars until he suffered a near fatal crash. Elasti-Woman tells Cliff about her former life as an actress, in “pictures,” until one day a chance encounter with a mysterious substance causes her skin to sag off her face.

We find out that Kay Challis aka Crazy has 64 different personalities inside of her and each one grants her a new super power. Cyborg is well known to comic book fans, and it’s unclear how permanent his role with the team will be from the trailer, but DC does gift us with another tragic origin story for the Justice League member.

You can watch the full trailer below, but beware, there are a lot of spoilers contained within.

Perhaps the coolest thing about the new trailer is seeing all of the Doom Patrol in action with their unique abilities. You might even get to witness a bad guy using some powers too…

Doom Patrol made its first appearance on the DC Universe streaming platform on the fourth episode of the live-action series Titans. The series premieres on DC Universe tomorrow, Friday February 15, 2019. Be sure to check back with us for our review of the first episode!
