Even though we’re fast approaching the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones (here’s the final trailer released a few days ago if you missed it) there’s still little known about the enigmatic White Walkers and their leader, The Night King. Thanks to a recent EW interview with Night King actor Vladmir Furdik however, we now know some crucial information regarding the cryptic character’s intentions:
“People will see he has a target he wants to kill, and you will find out who that is,” Furdik said in response to a question about what can be expected from The Night King in Season 8. “There’s also that moment [in “Hardhome”] when Jon Snow was on the boat and the Night King looked at him and raised his arms — there’s a similar and even stronger moment between Jon and the Night King this time.”
When asked if he has a favorite Night King scene: “That’s still coming.”
The Night King was created by the Children of the Forest, is now in possession of zombie dragon Viserion and is a greenseer just like Bran. Does that mean Bran is his ultimate target? Or is it Jon Snow, who we’ve seen have “a moment,” with the Night King, as Furdik said in his interview? Will Season 8’s “similar moment” with Jon Snow involve the resurrection of Stark forces outside/inside Winterfell?
Game of Thrones‘ final season begins on April 14th.
