‘Pennyworth’ casts Martha Wayne and The Queen

Emma Paetz will be the sixth actress to play Martha.

Alfred Pennyworth is usually surrounded by Waynes, something that’ll continue in his own series, as Deadline reports Emma Paetz has been cast as Martha Kane, the future Mrs. Wayne, in Pennyworth. As they’re using her birth name, this is most likely before she marries Thomas.

Paetz recently played Rachel Gilmour in Press. She’ll be the sixth actress to portray Martha, with The Walking Dead actress Lauren Cohan having most recently played her in Batman v Superman.

Meanwhile, Jessica Ellerby has been cast as The Queen. Earlier this year, she played Stacee in Living the Dream. Pennyworth follows Alfred Pennyworth in his 20s, before becoming butler to the Waynes. He’s a “former British SAS soldier” and “forms a security company.” In 1960s London, he goes to work for Thomas Wayne.

Jack Bannon, Angelo Poliziano in Medici, will play the title character, while Ben Aldridge, Captain James in Our Girl, plays Thomas Wayne. The series hails from Gotham creator Bruno Heller, but is interestingly unconnected to that series.

Pennyworth will air on Epix at a currently unknown date, but keep an eye on AiPT! for further details as they become available.
