Charlotte Flair wins SmackDown Women’s Championship two weeks before WrestleMania

WrestleMania’s main event will now feature both brand’s women’s titles.

On tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live!, Charlotte Flair faced off against Asuka in an impromptu SmackDown Women’s Championship match, which she ultimately won by tapping out the Empress of Tomorrow with the Figure Eight.

Even the show’s commentators were baffled as to why this match was for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, calling it “inexplicable.” Original announced plans were for Carmella, Naomi, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose to face off for the right to face Asuka at WrestleMania for the blue brand’s women’s title.

But now it appears as if the main event of WrestleMania 35 will feature both women’s championships. We don’t know yet if both titles will be up for grabs in the match.
