OWL’s Boston Uprising announce first round of Spring Collegiate Cup

The field features 11 teams from nine local New England schools.

Friday morning the Boston Uprising announced the bracket for the preliminary rounds of the Spring Collegiate Cup. The Uprising play in Blizzard’s hugely popular Overwatch League, and are providing local Overwatch teams the opportunity to compete with other top teams from around New England.

11 teams from nine schools will compete for a chance to win a trip to Blizzard Arena in Burbank, CA to watch the Uprising compete. This is the second Collegiate Cup the Uprising have hosted, with Northeastern University winning the inaugural event in December 2018. The event will be broadcast on Boston Uprising’s official Twitch channel.

PRELIMINARY BRACKET SET FOR SPRING COLLEGIATE CUP

Preliminary rounds to take place April 6 with championship rounds April 28

   BOSTON – The Boston Uprising announced today the bracket for the preliminary rounds of the Spring Collegiate Cup taking place online April 6.

   The field features 11 teams from nine local New England schools including Becker College, Boston University, Champlain College, Emerson College, University of Massachusetts Amherst, New England College, Northeastern University, University of Rhode Island and Stonehill College.

   The first round will take place April 6 at 6 p.m., featuring Emerson B vs. University of Rhode Island, Emerson A vs. New England College and Champlain vs. Stonehill. The second round will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will have University of Massachusetts vs. Northeastern B and the first round winners facing off against either Northeastern A, Boston University or Becker based on seeding. The four winning teams from the second round will advance to the semifinals April 28 at the Back Bay Events Center.

   The live championship round matches are free and open to the public. They will also be streamed live on the Uprising’s Twitch channel beginning at 12 p.m. Eastern time. The winning team will earn a trip to Los Angeles to see the Uprising compete during the 2019 season.

   This Collegiate Cup is the second such event hosted by the Uprising after Northeastern won the inaugural event in December 2018.
