‘Pennyworth’ teaser trailer debuts

‘My name’s Alfred Pennyworth, by the way.’

“My name’s Alfred Pennyworth, by the way.” It’s a name you probably already know well. But how well do you know the man? Sure, we know him when he’s butler to the Waynes and Batman’s closest ally — but what was he like before all that?

We’re set to find out this summer in Pennyworth, where he’s a former SAS soldier. He forms a security company, going to work with Thomas Wayne in 1960s London. We got our first look at this younger Alfred, along with a host of other characters, in a teaser trailer yesterday, which you can watch above.

We see Paloma Faith’s villain in at least two points, with her slashing a blade 0:07 in. Before that, we get to see what I think is the Queen of England and after, possibly a moustachioed Thomas. Towards the end, we see a hooded figure, arms raised, with an image of two axes and the English crown adorned on their chest. Between this and Faith’s Sykes, I get the feeling Alfred will have his hands more than full, even before arriving in Gotham.

Look out for Pennyworth on Epix this Summer.
