As Marvel’s latest event War of the Realms continues to take over every series, so too are the heroes being dragged into this war with elves and Frost Giants. In the latest issue of Venom written by Cullen Bunn and drawn by Iban Coello, Eddie Brock is left without his Symbiote and attempting to protect his son, Dylan. How can Eddie fight without powers, you might be wondering? Nothing a little magic can’t help.
Midway through the issue, we learn a group of elves want to have some fun with Eddie. Soon Eddie is coming face to face with an elf that offers him whatever he desires from a Dreamstone attuned to becoming a weapon.
Cut to…
A brand new costume that looks a lot like the usual Venom look save for sharp-clawed toes, long sharp claws on his hands, weird spikes coming out of his legs, and what appears to be blue ribbons of magic emblazoned around his body. Whatever works, right? This image was already seen in the preview, but there’s more.
Later on while he’s literally ripping the heads off of orc-like creatures, Eddie thinks about what he has become. Is this who he really is deep down? A killer?
It appears this suit is the embodiment of his hate. Can he really call himself Venom if he’s not wearing the Symbiote, though?
Apparently, he can! At least he’s not using the term we, and is owning up to the fact that he’s a singular Venom!
This is only a slice of the story and I highly recommend you read the whole issue to get the full picture. It’s a wild ride.
