Dean Ambrose teases the return of Jon Moxley, but where will he end up?

The former WWE Champion seems to be already eyeing a return to wrestling.

Former WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose, now reverting to his former persona of Jon Moxley, posted a video on his rarely-used Twitter account seemingly hyping up his return to wrestling.

Moxley left WWE last month after his contract had expired. He decided not to renew with the company, immediately fueling speculation of him appearing in other promotions. This video seems to confirm he’ll end up somewhere, but where?

The video depicts Moxley breaking out of a jail, possibly a metaphor for being chained down by WWE for so long — it’s long been accepted that Moxley was unhappy with the creative WWE had given his character, which was one of the main reasons for his departure. Barbed wire and blood seem to suggest Moxley will be reverting to his more violent persona he portrayed before he joined the more corporate WWE.

Eagle-eyed viewers will also notice a sign behind him with a pair of dice showing the numbers 2 and 5. May 25th is when AEW’s Double or Nothing will take place. It’s currently unknown if that’s a clue or coincidence.

Jon Moxley will be a huge get for any promotion, whether or not it’s AEW. As Ambrose, he is a Grand Slam Champion, capturing the WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship and the Raw Tag Team Championships. He is also a founding member of one of the most successful factions in WWE history in The Shield. He last appeared on WWE television on April 21, 2019, in a recorded house show that WWE dubbed The Shield’s Final Chapter. Ambrose, alongside Shield mates Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, defeated Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin in a six man tag match.
