James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ casts Polka-Dot Man

James Gunn’s Suicide Squad reboot continues to take shape.

When I think of supervillains, I tend to think of ones like Green Goblin, Venom, or Dr. Doom, but there’s a lot more villainy than you’d expect. This is being proven by James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which will feature evil-doers like Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, King Shark and now, Polka-Dot Man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the little known villain will be played by David Dastmalchian, who you’ll likely know well enough from playing tech-wizard Abra Kadabra in The Flash and Kurt in the Ant-Man films. In the comics, Polka-Dot Man commits spot-themed crimes, allowing him to summon flying saucers and turn spots into buzzsaws.

It won’t just be new faces in The Suicide Squad, as Jai Courtney’s set to return as Captain Boomerang, alongside Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Interestingly, Idris Elba was originally set to replace Will Smith as Deadshot, but as THR writes, a script change changed it into a new, unknown role.

The Suicide Squad releases 6th August, 2021.
