The best new Pokemon revealed in Sword and Shield is also its most adorable: behold, Wooloo

The best new Pokemon in Sword and Shield is here. What it do, Wooloo?

My esteemed colleague Shen Sei recently wrote about the impressiveness of one Corviknight, a new Flying/Steel Pokemon revealed in the Nintendo Direct Pokemon Sword and Shield trailer and how said Corviknight was irrevocably the coolest Pokemon revealed. And while Corviknight is pretty impressive, I guess — if you’re into that whole dark, mysterious, “nevermore” edgelord vibe — I respectfully disagree with Shen. That’s because the best Pokemon revealed thus far wasn’t some ominous, ginormous robotic raven — it was an adorable fluff-ball named Wooloo.

I mean, come on. Just look at her:

Cuteness level: It’s over 9000.

True, we’re only a day into reveals for new Pokemon from the Galar region, but Wooloo just sticks out like a fantastic, fleecy friend to the end. And I don’t care who knows it. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Wooloo makes Mareep, my previous favorite sheep Pokemon look like some mangy mutt in comparison.

Wooloo isn’t just a pretty ruminant, even-toed ungulate, either. She’s very useful to Galar, as her official description confirms:

The white fur that covers their bodies grows throughout their lives, and it will fully grow back in three months even if the Wooloo has been completely shorn. The fur is used for clothing and carpets and the like, and it is very popular as a specialty product of the Galar region.

You can tell me you wouldn’t rock a full-on Wooloo fur outfit for the rest of your days and I’d respond with a simple truth: You’re a liar. Flexing Wooloo in Galar must be the equivalent of wearing a wondrous suit made of some ethereal combination of Ralph Lauren, Prada, Louis Vutton, Gucci and Oscar de la Renta — all at once! And just think, all we’d need to do is Dynamax Wooloo and we could outfit an entire village (for a “small” Pokedollars direct deposit to my bank account, of course.) The following is pretty much me stuntin’ in my Wooloo gear:

And don’t think I’m some mindless sheep for loving Wooloo so much right off the jump. Look no further than Twitter to see that the Wooloo gang is already strong. For we are many:

Even Shen’s beloved Corviknight can’t resist chilling with Wooloo:

But, hey. I just realized something. Let’s take it easy on Mareep, alright? She gave us countless years of charming satisfaction. Besides, there’s no need to hurt Marreep’s feelings unnecessarily.

Besides, maybe Mareep and Wooloo aren’t too different after all:

When you inevitably become a thrall to the wondrous elegance and grace that is Wooloo, remember Mareep too. In fact, raise your own army of adorable sheep to take over Galar and bleat the brakes off the undefeated Galar Pokemon champion, Leon. Wooloo and Mareep, let’s do this:

Why do you enjoy Wooloo so much? How much do you love Wooloo on a scale of 9.9-10? Let us know in the comments!
