Tom King, the author behind Batman, Mister Miracle, Heroes in Crisis and more has won an Eisner for Best Writer at this year’s awards ceremony, hosted at San Diego Comic Con 2019. This should come as little surprise to most comics readers, or those following the Eisner nomination and award process, as King is this year’s most nominated creator with five discreet noms for: Best Writer, Best Short Story, Best Continuing Series, Best Limited Series, and Best Graphic Album Reprint.
King and Mitch Gerad’s Mister Miracle is also the most nominated series at the show, snagging four noms including those for King, Gerads, and cover artist Nick Derington.
King was nominated alongside Alex De Campi, Jeff Lemire, Mark Russell, Kelly Thompson, and Chip Zdarsky for the category and has previously received Eisner awards for his work on Batman and Mister Miracle at the 2018 ceremony.
