Netflix has released not one, but two teaser trailers for the upcoming film Marriage Story. The film stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver and the trailers are from each of the characters’ points of view.
Written and directed by Noah Baumbach, the film looks at a couple that seems to be going through the process of ending their marriage. The trailers offer an interesting glimpse of the couple’s bond. Johansson plays Nicole. Nicole’s trailer goes into all the things she loves about Driver’s character Charlie. Charlie’s trailer ticks off all the things he loves about Nicole. Both trailers culminate with Nicole and Charlie preparing to have a serious and difficult conversation that inevitably leads them to the courthouse.
This is not the first time Baumbach has tackled the topic of divorce. He received an Academy Award nomination for best original screenplay for 2005’s The Squid and the Whale.
Marriage Story also stars Laura Dern, Alan Alda, and Ray Liotta. Marriage Story comes to Netflix and select theaters this fall.
