Star Wars: The Mandalorian trailer revealed at Disney’s D23 expo

No mark is safe from this bounty hunter.

Disney has revealed the first official trailer for Jon Favreau’s highly anticipated live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, and it looks absolutely incredible.

Fans who attended this years Star Wars Celebration earlier this year in April were shown a similar trailer, but it was never released to the public. Now’s your chance to see one of the most dangerous men in the galaxy.

The series is set after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order. Fans will follow a lone gunfighter on the fringes of known space, far from the authority of the New Republic, as he hunts bounties, fights alongside assassin droids and engages in intense spaceship battles.

There’s a much darker tone present here than Star Wars fans are used to, and you can feel that very quickly while watching the trailer. The goal is to bring a “darker, freakier side of Star Wars,” series showrunner Jon Favreau (Iron Man) told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Dave Filoni was nice enough to bring me over to Star Wars Celebration. I had never been there before, and now it’s my chance to bring him to his first D23,” said Jon Favreau, introduced The Mandalorian with fellow executive producer Filoni at D23. “Because here—we’ve got Star Wars fans, right? And we’ve also got Marvel fans, too. And most of all… we’ve got Disney fans!”

Favreau’s series is the time in the Star War franchise’s history that we’ll see characters from a galaxy far, far away in a live-action television show. The Mandalorian will be available at launch of Disney’s highly anticipated upcoming streaming service, Disney+, on November 12. The service will be available at a base cost of $6.99 a month or can be purchased as a bundle with Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99 a month.
