D23 news, trailers, and all things Disney to come

A variety of trailers were released today, getting fans ready for things to come.

Today kicks off the first day of D23 at the Anaheim Convention Center. D23 is a convention that celebrates all things Disney and has been surprising fans with Disney trailers, movies, and theme park news since 2009. A variety of trailers were released today, getting fans ready for things to come. You may have found yourself already anticipating some of the news and then there’s some news in there that will definitely surprise you.

This year’s convention is already amping up excitement for the release of Disney +. Disney’s official streaming service will be the home of Disney classics, news Disney shows, and works from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Start streaming November 12th.

One item of particular interest was the official trailer for The Mandalorian set to premiere on Disney +. The Mandalorian is a lone gunfighter embarking on adventures far from the New Republic. Fights, carbonite, storm troopers, and droids. What more can you ask for? In related news, Ewan McGregor made an appearance to announce that there will in fact be an Obi -Wan Kenobi series and it will begin shooting in 2020.

Remember High School Musical? The 2006 television movie that introduced the world to Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens is now returning to Disney + as a series with brand new high schoolers hoping to recreate the original musical. The series takes a documentary-esque approach and follows the lives of high schoolers auditioning for the musical.

Speaking of high school musicals, a new series produced by Kristen Bell will reunite former castmates of a high school musical. The docu-series will examine the former castmates’ current lives as well as their connections to their past. The goal is to get them together to see if they can recreate their past performance. The new series Encore! will be available on Disney +.

Ever wondered what it would be like to hang out with Jeff Goldblum? The trailer for The World According to Jeff Goldblum has been released and it’s every bit as delightful as you may have imagined. Follow Goldblum as he travels, tries exotic foods, meets new people, and experiences the world.

And for everyone who has ever grown up under Disney’s spell, the documentary One Day at Disney takes you behind the scenes and reveals all the magic that goes into making Disney run.

What’s better than watching two animated dogs fall in love? Watching two real dogs fall in love! Disney released the trailer for the new live action Lady and the Tramp and it is adorable!

Hillary Duff made a surprise appearance and announced that she would be reprising her role of Lizzie McGuire in a Lizzie McGuire sequel series. Lizzie is now thirty-years old, but her animated form will still make an appearance and provide commentary on her situations.

And some much anticipated Marvel related announcements were made. A bunch of shows are coming at you via Disney+. It was announced that Kat Dennings and Randall Park will be joining Elizabeth Olsen and Randall Park in Wandavision. Also in casting news, Emily Van Camp and Wyatt Russell will join the cast of Falcon and Winter Soldier as Sharon Carter and John Walker.

There were also new Marvel announcements. The live action Ms. Marvel is officially getting a series before making her cinematic debut. Joining Kamala Kahn is She-Hulk Jennifer Walters. She-Hulk will also get her own series. Also getting a series is Moon Knight. The Moon Knight series has been a rumor for years, but now it’s all coming together. No casting decisions have been announced for  Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, or Moon Knight.

In Pixar news, it looks like everyone’s favorite utensil is getting a series. Forky, from Toy Story 4, will get a series of shorts called Forky Asks a Question. In Monster news, monster fans can see a new series called Monsters at Work, which show Mike and Sully at work. The series takes place after the original Monsters Inc.

It was also announced that there is a new movie in production for Disney+. Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe is in production and will be available to stream on Disney+.
