Though it was originally set to be released in October, Brian Azzarello’s Birds of Prey is now coming 2020, the same year as the BoP film.
That isn’t the only change, as it’ll now be part of DC’s adult imprint, DC Black Label. Yesterday, they said “Retailers, DC is making the move to push the new Birds of Prey into DC Black Label, the perfect place for its hard-hitting storyline by writer Brian Azzarello, artist Emanuela Lupacchino.” Originally rated T+, for those 15+, it’s now 17+.
The above cover is by Superman’s Ivan Reis, Joe Prado and Alex Sinclair, replacing Lupacchino and Ray McCarthy’s, though it’s unknown if the original cover will still be used. It’ll be DC Black’s first ongoing, with others being limited series.
It’s unknown when Birds of Prey will release, but the film hits theaters February 7th, 2020.
