The Batman Who Laughs’ next infected superhero is unexpected in ‘Batman/Superman’ #2

The Batman Who Laughs just got a lot stronger.

Spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned. For more read our review.

Batman/Superman #2 opens strong with an exciting action sequence as Shazam beats Batman and Superman down. The issue really picks up in the last few pages however, when the next infected character is revealed. It’s a big surprise, especially since it was not revealed in solicitations. It is widely known Shazam, Hawkman, Scarab (Blue Beetle), Supergirl, Donna Troy, and Jim Gordon are all the targets of the Batman Who Laughs. Hell, if you read issue #2 you can see Jim Gordon is already under some kind of spell as he does Batman Who Laughs’ bidding. Which is why the last page of issue #2 comes as a great shock!

Halfway through the issue, Batman and Superman are licking their wounds and attempting to figure out what Batman Who Laughs is up to. They analyze the Batarang used to infect Shazam and they deduce six others will be infected. Note the Batarangs below have a Shazam symbol and a Superman symbol. For those doing math at home that means eight folks will be infected in total.

The idea comes up to get proactive and take the fight to the Batman Who Laughs. What does Superman mean?

To infect himself, of course! It’s pretty clear from Superman’s anger he’s not himself.

The “world’s finest” indeed. Likely Batman has a plan to somehow turn Superman back to normal, but we’ll have to see how that pans out in issue #3!

This is only part of the story and I highly recommend you read the whole issue to get the full picture. It’s a cool twist that nobody saw coming!
