WWE’s Women’s Tag Titles will be defended in NXT

William Regal made the surprise announcement.

WWE NXT General Manager William Regal announced on Twitter Wednesday evening that this week’s episode of NXT will feature a tag team match between Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox against Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. The winners of the match will determine who the next challengers to face the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions will be.

The announcement was made early Wednesday evening on the NXT Twitter account.

Both Asuka and Kairi Sane are former NXT Women’s champions, with Asuka being the most dominant NXT Champion in the history of the brand. Asuka was not only undefeated in her reign as champion, also holds the longest undefeated streak in WWE history at 914 days.

The Kabuki Warriors won the Tag Team titles earlier this month when they defeated Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss. This will be the first match for both Kairi and Asuka in NXT since their departures.
