New Intercontinental Championship belt design unveiled on SmackDown

The throwback design that was brought back in 2011 is no more.

A new design for the WWE Intercontinental Championship was unveiled on tonight’s episode of SmackDown by Sami Zayn and champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

The all-gold design on a black strap is in stark contrast to the previous design, which was on a white strap. The previous design was adopted in 2011 by Cody Rhodes as a throwback, replacing the “Attitude Era” design with one nearly identical to its 1980s/early 1990s counterpart.

Nakamura will appear at Survivor Series to face off against Raw’s AJ Styles and NXT’s Roderick Strong, but his newly unveiled Intercontinental Championship will not be on the line.

What do you think of the new title’s design? Sound off in the comments.
