The newest trailer for id Software’s highly anticipated follow-up to the 2016 reboot of the DOOM franchise has arrived and features brand new footage of the single-player campaign for DOOM Eternal. Watch it below:
The latest trailer provides a closer look at the game’s story in which Hell has come to Earth in the year 2151. New forces of good and evil never before been seen in any of the past incarnations of the game series will battle it out for the fate of mankind. It appears that we’ll even get a look at the mysterious Doom Slayer’s face and what may be a demonic version of another Doom Slayer that came before the one we know.
A new multiplayer will be available upon release — Battlemode — in which two players select Hell demons to play as and must cooperate to hunt down and kill another player that’s in the role of the Doom Slayer. The new gamemode stresses strategy and teamwork, allowing players to summon other demons from Hell and uses a variety of different weapons across several different maps.
DOOM Eternal was originally scheduled for release on Nov. 29, but was delayed so id Software’s could ensure it would meet the high standards of speed and polish set by the 2016 reboot. The game is now scheduled for a Mar. 20 release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with a Switch release to follow at a later date.
