Emerald City Comic Con has been postponed from March to some time this summer amid coronavirus fears, Reedpop announced today. The convention takes place in Seattle, Washington, which has been something of a ground zero for the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the United States.
“After many hours of conversation internally and consultation with local government officials and the tourism bureau, we have decided to move next week’s Emerald City Comic Con to Summer 2020 with date and detail announcement forthcoming,” the statement reads.
Before the postponement of the entire convention, many publishers, including Dark Horse and DC Comics, had made the decision to pull out of the con.
If you bought a ticket to the event, Reedpop says there’s nothing you need to do — a refund will be sent your way. “Due to the volume, we expect you will receive your refund in 30 days,” they said. “We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
It is not yet known what date ECCC will take place now, but we will keep you updated with any new information as it comes in.
