Tyson Fury accepts challenge from WWE Champion Drew McIntyre

McIntyre isn’t wasting any time calling out his naysayers.

Sunday night Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 to become the new WWE Champion. This is the first time McIntyre has captured WWE’s biggest prize and apparently the champ is looking to start things off with a bang.

McIntyre appeared as a guest on the UK talk show SportsTALK Breakfast and asked co-host Ally McCoist to help set up his first big match as champion.

“When it gets backs to normal, the next thing I want to do is fight Chris Sutton,” said McIntyre to McCoist. “You set it up. Finally, when everything gets back to normal and I can get back to the UK and parade about with the belt, the last thing I want to do is have the match with Sutton. You’d be in my corner.”

“I know Tyson Fury is on the show today, as well. I need to bring up Fury because he was talking trash about me, so I know he’s coming on the show,” continued McIntyre. “Tell him ‘I saw what you said about me.’ He didn’t care who won the match [between Lesnar and I], he thought I was going to win and thinks he can smash me. Just let him know ‘Fury I’ve won the championship, now I’m paying attention to you’. After I beat Sutton, I’m coming for Fury.”

Fury was quick to respond. Posting the following message on his Instagram account.

“@dmcintyrewwe has call me out after his @wwe Wrestlemania 36 victory, first I say congratulations and what a fantastic job. Secondly I accept his challenge, anytime any place, anywhere.”

Fury made his WWE debut on SmackDown in October of last year, starting a feud with WWE Superstar Braun Strowman. The pair threw verbal jabs and brawled over the course of several episodes of SmackDown until they officially met in the ring at WWE’s Crowl Jewel ppv event in Saudi Arabia on Halloween. Fury defeated Strowman and has since said that he plans to work with WWE again in the future.

Well, it looks like we may not be waiting too much longer to see the boxing star back in the WWE.
