Animal Crossing: New Horizons patch 1.1.4 addresses overabundant eggs

Eggcellent news!

Bunny Day arrived in Animal Crossing: New Horizons last week, delivering a guy in a bunny suit and six different types of painted eggs hidden throughout the game. Between April 1 and 12, players collect the eggs and use them to craft special holiday themed items. Sounds fun right?

Well it would be, but Nintendo made the mistake of giving players a little too many eggs. The “hidden” eggs are obtained through tasks like fishing, collecting wood, and whacking rocks; which in concept makes sense, but players are getting way too many eggs and way too few of the items they’d normally receive through the various resource collecting activities.

There’s a lot of complaints about the overabundance of eggs on social media, and with good reason. It took me nearly 10 attempts this morning to catch a fish and not because I was screwing up my reel timing. No, it was because I caught 9 eggs in a row!

Thankfully Nintendo got the message from the many egged out players and implemented patch 1.1.4 this morning. The aim of the patch is two fold, but there’s really only one part that most players care about, and that’s the reduction of eggs.

Full patch notes below:

  • General updates
    • Fixed an issue where, when Flick is on your island, if you give him the number of scarab beetles required for a model, the model you receive is of a different insect.
      • How this issue will be resolved in affected save data:
After the software is updated to Ver. 1.1.4, if you give Flick the required number of scarab beetles again, you will receive the correct model.
    • Adjusted the appearance rate of some Bunny Day eggs through 04/12/2020.
      • Note: Eggs will be easier to find on Bunny Day itself, which takes place on 04/12/2020.

New to the island or not sure if you want to book the trip? Be sure to check out our exceptional in-depth review!
