‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ toy leaks reveal major spoilers

…along with a new monster.

First, a warning: If you don’t want any part of the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong film, then stop reading now. There are major spoilers ahead.

Everyone good? Okay then…

In a report today by Jacob Gilley of Godzilla-Movies.com, low quality, leaked images of toys from Playmates’ upcoming line of Godzilla vs. Kong figures were revealed, giving us some major clues about what to expect when the movie is (hopefully) released this fall.

Before showing these, however, it should be noted that the images’ original source is the popular Mexican Godzilla YouTube channel, Kaiju Kingdom MX (which you can see by the extremely prominent watermarks on every picture). The original video and images were taken down, but not before they could be copied and spread.

Wave 1 Standard Figures

First up is the standard Godzilla figure featuring powered-up dorsal fins, an atomic breath attack piece, and the ability to reveal a nasty looking battle scar across his chest.

Based on the picture of someone peeling away his skin, it’s probably safe to assume that this figure stands at about 7″, like Playmates’ other recently released kaiju toys.

Next up is the standard Kong figure, which also features a battle damage reveal feature (this time on his arm) and giant club he can use to swing at Big G.

Next up is a group shot of the first Godzilla vs. Kong figure wave, which includes a Skull Island skull crawler along with a new monster/titan dubbed Mizuki. There’s also a smaller, individually packaged photo of Mizuki that shows the poor creature is saddled with yet another battle damage feature like the other figures in the wave. I’m starting to think the folks at Playmates might be sadist.

Wave 1 Mega Figures

The last two figures are Mega Kong and Mega Godzilla. It’s probably safe to assume that “mega” means they’ll be in a much larger scale–similar to the 11″ Kong: Skull Island figure that Playmates released earlier this year.

Mega Kong also has an action feature that I can’t quite make out, but appears to be a basic crushing/pounding motion with its right arm.

Mega Godzilla, on the other hand, appears to be covered in some type of red armor. He also comes with what I’m guessing is an atomic breath projectile that can be fired from the figure’s mouth.

Interestingly, this recent leak did not include Mechagodzilla, which was revealed as a figure in the Playmates toy line (by Godzilla-Movies again) in leaked photos from the 2020 Hong Kong Toy Expo in January.

Mechagodzilla’s exclusion from this leak–or his inclusion in the other one–shouldn’t be taken as any sort of confirmation about his potential appearance in Godzilla vs. Kong, but it’s definitely worth noting.
