Top Chef Season 17 Power Rankings: Week 7

Making tacos for Machete and pitching their own restaurant concept.

In week seven of Top Chef, the contestants learned that Karen is returning to the competition via Last Chance Kitchen. Then they made the perfect taco for Danny Trejo. The catch was they could only use a machete for all their knifework. Afterwards, they learned that Restaurant Wars is the following week. In order to determine the directions of the eateries they’ll run, they all pitched to the judges and guests, Stephanie Izard and Kevin Boehm, their own concept. The two best visions with accompanying food were selected.

We saw another shake up in the top three as both Kevin and Gregory had their restaurant ideas chosen. Much like the product challenge in Week 5, the elimination challenge was more than just cooking. Some chefs didn’t have the showman chops needed to sell their ideas. In the end, Eric couldn’t make the cut and had similar luck in Last Chance Kitchen.
