Get out the party hats and noise makers! It’s that time of the year again, Overwatch fans: it’s time to wish a very happy birthday to your favorite FPS shooter.
Today, Overwatch hits another big milestone by turning four years old, and to celebrate, Blizzard is once again holding its annual Overwatch Anniversary Event. From today through June 9, players can enjoy the celebration on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
As with the previous three years, this year’s Overwatch Anniversary Event delivers a slew of new cosmetic items, including sprays, player icons, and of course, skins. Players can obtain the new cosmetics through Anniversary loot boxes, crafting in the Hero Customization tab, and by completing weekly challenges. Be warned: the weekly challenge awards are only available for a limited time and can be earned by winning nine games per week.
This year, there are eight new skins to collect — one fewer than last year’s Overwatch Anniversary Event delivered — with three epic and five legendary. The epic skins are: Carbon Fiber Sigma, Fleur De Lis Widowmaker, and Masked Man McCree, which can be earned by completing the weekly challenges. The legendary skins are: Little Red Ashe, Masquerade Reaper, Huitzilopochtli Zenyatta (say that five times fast), Dragoon Mercy, and Submarine Wrecking Ball.
New legendary skins can be purchased for 3,000 gold from the Hero Customization tab, and players can unlock skins, sprays, and emotes from any past event for a reduced price of 1,000 gold. You have three weeks to unlock as many cosmetics as you can from every Overwatch event that’s ever been held. Good luck!
