Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed #ReleaseTheSnyderCut is getting what it wants with a Zack Snyder director’s cut of Justice League to be featured on HBO Max. The “Snyder Cut” will drop sometime in 2021 with no confirmed launch date, yet. Snyder surprised fans with the news in his morning live-online commentary of Man of Steel with Henry Cavill.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise since fans have been asking for Snyder’s director’s cut for years. Fans even raised money for a billboard for the week of SDCC 2019 further showing how dedicated they are to seeing a version of the film that has become the stuff of legend.
Oh, the Snyder Cut also got an HBO Max billboard, which was noticed by a fan yesterday.
In a press release sent to AIPT, Snyder said, “I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality.”
This is a huge win for a community of folks wishing for and demanding the Zack Snyder director’s cut be released. We’ll keep you informed as we get new news on the subject and we’re sure Joss Whedon will be asked at some point how he feels after taking over the project from Snyder.
