Xena sings the hits: “Lyre, Lyre, Hearts on Fire” soundtrack coming soon

Lucy Lawless singing “War”? Yes, please.

Xena: Warrior Princess is a fan favorite fantasy show from the 90’s that aired in syndication. Part of the reason it had such a cult following, besides its strong female protagonist, was that it was willing to take risks. One of those risks was including two musical episodes during its six-season run.

The episode, “Lyre, Lyre, Hearts on Fire”, will have its songs collected into an original soundtrack for the first time. The LP will be released on August 7 from Varèse Sarabande Records. The packaging includes a double-sided picture disc in a clear sleeve with full-color folded insert.

Featured on the album are songs sung by the series’s stars including Lucy Lawless. She sings versions of “People Got to Be Free,” “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves,” “There’s Always Something There to Remind Me”, and “War”. There are also score portions created by Emmy-winning composer, Joseph LoDuca. The track listing can be found below.
