Many television companies are trying to find ways to get their programming out to the masses to help them pass the time while they shelter in place. HBO released 500 hours of content for free on their HBO NOW and HBO GO streaming services. Syfy is getting in on the action as they will air marathons of both Xena: Warrior Princess and Battlestar Galactica.
For the first time, the channel will show Xena every Thursday morning and afternoon beginning April 16. All 134 episodes spanning six seasons will be aired. It’s quite fitting that such a beloved classic will come on #TBT. Lucy Lawless will provide host wraps of the marathons which will feature some surprise guest appearances. The wraps will be hosted by Syfy FanGrrls.
Then beginning April 20, at 12 AM ET, through April 23, at 9 AM ET, the award winning Syfy drama, Battlestar Galactica, will air in its entirety. For three days straight, the 2-part miniseries, 4 seasons, and movies, ‘Razor’ and ‘The Plan’, will be shown in a non-stop marathon. Tricia Helfer will host and there will be custom content and special surprise appearances throughout. The whole event will be presented by Syfy Wire. In addition, as a special treat, Syfy Wire’s podcast, Battlestar Galacticast, is dropping a bonus episode on Monday, April 20 featuring a cast reunion (Edward James Olmos, James Callis, Jamie Bamber, Katee Sackhoff, Michael Trucco, Rekha Sharma and more) and live reading of the pilot episode, “33”.
If you want to watch both series on your own time, they can be streamed on SYFY.com and the NBCU’s OneApp. Or if you need other options for bingeable TV, check out our picks here.
