AEW Rankings: July 1, 2020: Fyter Fest

These rankings could look very different come next week.

AEW has released their rankings for the week of July 1, 2020 on the cusp of night one of Fyter Fest. The event will take place over the course of two weeks, beginning with tonight’s episode of Dynamite. Let’s take a closer look at each division and see how AEW rankings look the night before the big show.

Not much of a change here. Brian Cage and Lance Archer both picked up wins, yet both remained in their position from the previous week.

It goes without saying that the biggest question for the Men’s division right now is whether or not Jon Moxley will be able to wrestling Brian Cage at night two of Fyter Fest next week on July 8. Last week, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan announced that Moxley was being pulled from Dynamite that evening due to coming in contact with someone who has COVID-19. There’s no word at this time on whether or not Moxley has tested positive.

AEW Men’s Division

AEW Champion: Jon Moxley (13-0 singles, 18-2-1 overall)
TNT Champion: Cody Rhodes (13-1, 20-6-1 overall)

1. MJF (7-0 singles, 12-1 overall)
2. Brian Cage (5-0 singles, 5-0 overall)
3. Lance Archer (8-1 singles, 8-1 overall)
4. Brodie Lee (5-1 singles, 5-1 overall)
5. Chris Jericho (2-1 singles,14-5-1 overall)

Not a single woman in the top five changed positions this week, in fact AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida was the only one of them to even wrestle within the past week. Shida will defend her title against Penelope Ford tonight at Fyter Fest where Ford will look to make the upset and win the biggest match of her career.

AEW Women’s Division

Champion: Hikaru Shida (12-1 singles, 17-7 overall)

1. Nyla Rose (6-2 singles, 13-5 overall)
2. Penelope Ford (4-3 singles, 6-5 overall)
3. Big Swole (4-3 singles, 5-7 overall)
4. Kris Statlander (4-4 singles, 8-9 overall)
5. Dr. Britt Baker (4-4 singles, 13-8 overall)

As with the other two divisions the tag division also saw no movement in its rankings this week. The Young Bucks picked up another win to further secure their spot at the #3 position but have a bit of a ways to go to pass The Dark Order and Best Friends. That being said, there’s a lot of things happening within the tag division that could seriously shake up the rankings by next week.

The first night of Fyter Fest will see Private Party face off against Santana & Ortiz, and the AEW Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega & Adam Hangman Page will defend their titles against the #1 ranked team Chuck Taylor and Trent? of the Best Friends. There’s also two multi-man tag team matches happening on night two of Fyter Fest, but that won’t have any impact on next week’s rankings.

AEW Tag Team Division

Champions: Kenny Omega & “Hangman” Adam Page (8-0)

1. The Best Friends (10-3)
2. Dark Order (6-0)
3. The Young Bucks (4-2)
4. Natural Nightmares (5-1)
5. Private Party (4-2)
