Image Comics unveils cryptic ‘Crossover’ event teaser

Image Comics cooking up a comics crossover event?

Earlier today, Image Comics posted a teaser across their official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts featuring one word: Crossover.

The message was accompanied by the hashtag #CrossoverComic. The teaser graphic itself contained three dots that appear to be an ellipsis.

Yesterday, Donny Cates (who previously wrote God Country for Image) posted a gif of the teaser’s ellipsis to his Twitter feed and made it his profile header, as well

According to a report today from Rich Johnston at Bleeding Cool, the crossover event is rumored to be a return/revamp of the huge shared superhero universe Image Comics featured back in the 1990’s. Johnston also said that the event may involve characters from DC’s Wildstorm books.

Whatever this ends up being, an Image Comics crossover excites me a heck of a lot more than the annual ones we get from the big two (although to be fair, Marvel’s Empyre event looks like it’s going to be really good).

We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
