‘X-Force’ #10 confirms a Sinister Secret

The Sinister Secret about a ‘new normal’ love quadrangle is confirmed in X-Force #10.

Spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned. For more read our review.

There are many reasons to read Marvel’s current X-Men comics and Jonathan Hickman gave us an extra one with the Sinister Secrets that were published in Powers of X #4. We were introduced to The Red Diamond and a bevy of mutant gossip. As new comics have come out, the truth behind certain secrets has been revealed, such as the resurrection of both fashion designer Jumbo Carnation (Sinister Secret #2) and Madelyne Pryor (Sinister Secret #3).

Today, X-Force #10 provides clarity on one more.

One of the most talked-about Sinister Secrets among X-Fans was #5, which seemed to hint at some mutant hanky-panky between Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops and Emma Frost. The secret is above, but below for clarity:

Secret 5: “He’s the best at what he does. She’s married with a kid. The husband knows exactly what’s going on, but who is he to point the finger? He’s up to much the same, and more. Maybe this is just the new normal on the mutant island.

Up to this point, there have been hints at this throughout the Dawn of X, from the flirty looks exchanged at the party scene in House of X #6

…to the open-door policy in The Summer House on the Moon, where Jean resides between Scott and Logan, which was revealed in X-Men #1. And let’s not forget that Cyclops wanted Wolverine to go on vacation with Jean and their kids in X-Men #7.

In the past, Cyclops was certainly the jealous type, but he seems fine with an open relationship now, as evidenced by his inability to say whether he loves a single person in X-Men #2.

If there was any doubt, X-Force #10 confirms Sinister Secret #5, as a Jean joins Logan in Krakoa’s answer to a hot tub.

Sure, getting in a hot tub doesn’t necessarily confirm anything, but the embrace after getting in seems to confirm that kiss on the cheek in Giant-Size X-Men Jean Grey and Emma Frost #1 may not have been so innocent:

So, what does this mean for the future of our favorite X-Quadrangle? So far, it seems like Jean is more sexual with Wolverine than Cyclops on panel, so is this just the deal Scott, Jean and Logan have worked out, or is this a sign their side deal is intensifying? If we’re seeing how hot and heavy Logan and Jean get, how long before we get to see what Scott and Emma were up to that night?

There’s a lot of questions to mull over, but also more comic to read. I recommend reading X-Force #10 in its entirety to see what I’ve left out between Logan and Jean.
