DC FanDome ’20: ‘Black Adam’ panel recap with movie art revealed

Check out everything we’ve learned about Black Adam and check out art from the film.

DC FanDome’s first-ever convention is nearly over for the day–wait for The Batman in two or so hours–and it has been a wild ride with a Black Adam panel taking place just a few moments ago. It featured The Rock himself, Dwayne Johnson, narrating over production-art as well as discuss the project.

Check out some screengrabs of the art below.

Johnson said the Black Adam film will go beyond expectations and that the fans are the boss and they are the people he’s trying to please. Johnson then took fan questions and the first question asked about how powerful Black Adam is in the universe. Johnson danced a bit around the question but basically said the character is incredibly powerful. Another person asked who he’d like to team up with from the stable of DC Comics characters and he said Wonder Woman would be his first pick, but also Superman since Superman and Black Adam have similar power levels.

In another question asking about why Black Adam is so unique, Johnson said he’s been working on getting this film made for over 10 years so it’s near and dear to his heart. He said he likes the character is an anti-hero and has his own form of justice. He also connects with the character as he’s a character who was enslaved and “felt the burdens and pressures of a larger entity holding him down until he can’t take it anymore.”

Johnson promised the Black Adam film will be an origin story that will utilize all the qualities we love of the character. “He’s a ruthless keeper of justice,” Johnson said, and “He’ll do anything he can to protect his people. Moreso protects his family.”

Johnson revealed the film will introduce the Justice Society which includes heroes like Dr. Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher, but that they will be taught by Black Adam putting an edge on the characters.

Some of the biggest DC FanDome panels have taken place already including the Wonder Woman 1984 panel, the panel on new videogame Gotham Knights, and the Sandman universe panel.
