DC FanDome ’20: The Suicide Squad – Panel

The Suicide Squad featured guests, tidbits about production, and a trailer featuring the full cast and characters.

The Suicide Squad Panel might be the biggest panel of the weekend, especially since the film completed filming and is waiting to be released. Some of the biggest DC FanDome panels have taken place already including the Wonder Woman 1984 panel, the panel on new videogame Gotham Knights, and the Sandman universe panel. Kicking off a few minutes before 3 pm eastern, the panel opened with director James Gunn taking fan questions.

Questions ranged from what he thinks of characters like Waller, to a question from Jake from State Farm about explosions. Gunn name-dropped Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher as villains he’d like to use and also said Bat-mite was one of his favorite supervillain growing up. One fan asked if Flula Borg is playing Javelin Man and Gunn said they were almost right.

Gunn moved on from fan questions with a The Suicide Squad trailer featuring each character and the actor who plays them. It’s a deep cast–and likely many will die in the film–but we know Harley Quinn can never die!

The panel went into gameshow mode with the group splitting up into two teams. It’s a fun way to show which actors know their comic books. If you’re keeping track at home Viola Davis’ team won.

Finally, Gunn shared his thoughts on the production and said this was the greatest cast he’s ever worked with.

To wrap up, Gunn shared a behind the scenes featurette for the film. We learn John Cena is playing a “douchey Captain America,” explosions are coming in fast, and “this is by far the biggest movie I’ve ever made” Gunn said. Watch it below.
