All Things All Elite: September 23rd, 2020

Another week, another ton of content to catch up with before AEW Dynamite!

Let’s get down to business, fellow All Elite Wrestling fans. First things first: if you have not seen the AEW Dark match from last night between Lee Johnson and Ben Carter, go watch it now. Here is the link to where it starts. Go take a break from work or whatever you are doing and watch this absolutely amazing match. Go, now.

OK, back? That was downright amazing, was it not? On to the rest of the recap. AEW Late Night Dynamite was pretty fun. I recommend checking it out on TNT’s website if you have access to that. If you can’t watch it, it’s not the biggest deal, but it was a fun hour. Twitter was slow this week. Being the Elite was short but we got Sue! Be sure to review everything else as well. And as always, I hope ya’ll enjoy Dynamite tonight!

Being the Elite

  • Brandon asks The Bucks if they want to say anything for the vlog. They refuse.
  • Silver and Reynolds are discussing who they should try to recruit next. They try to recruit Britt Baker and mention they actually could use a baker in the faction. Britt explains that just because her last name is Baker doesn’t mean she makes cupcakes. Silver and Reynolds can’t seem to understand this.
  • Brandon Cutler tries to steal the money the Bucks threw into Tony Khan’s office, hears Tony Kahn coming, and runs off, bills flying everywhere.
  • Stu Grayson says he’s going to kill Silver for framing him. He says he isn’t afraid of Silver or anyone. He screams about how he isn’t afraid of anyone. Anna Jay walks up and Stu suddenly freezes up, obviously terrified of her.
  • Colt Cabana goes to AEW’s athletic trainers to try to fix his face. The trainer agrees. Shortly after, his bandages are removed to reveal the trainer has made Colt look exactly like Michael Nakazawa.
  • Luchasaurus is giving a brief history lesson while Brandon Cutler stands next to him in his dragon mask. Tay Conti points out that Cutler has a dragon mask. Luchasaurus, misunderstanding her, says “no, dragons were never real”. Conti points again, Luchasaurus notices this time and is frightened off.
  • Silver and Reynolds come into the Dark Order’s hangout pretending to be Brodie Lee. Brodie is not happy. Sue, Trent’s mom, then pops in with some food for the gang. Everyone says thanks and Sue leaves. Brodie Lee goes back into rage mode and slams the food on the ground. Sue re-enters and asks what happened to the food. They all blame Silver and give Sue’s mom papers to smack him with, which she does.
  • Carlos and Santana are both hanging out when they both start receiving sharp pains in random parts of their body. Camera cuts to someone poking needles into voodoo dolls of them. The camera pans out to reveal it’s Sue with the voodoo dolls.
  • Matt Jackson, looking at his phone, brings up an old tweet from the Bucks’ account saying that one day they will wrestle The Revival.

AEW Dark

  • Dark Order (Stu Grayson and Evil Uno) def. Fuego Del Sol and Rembrandt Lewis
  • Ricky Starks def. Christopher Daniels. Nothing much to note here, but it was a pretty well-earned victory for Ricky.
  • The Butcher and The Blade def. Puf and Calvin Stewart. Eddie Kingston was at ringside interfering with the match, Ricky Starks joined commentary.
  • Will Hobbs def. Serpentico. Will Hobbs wins with an intense spine buster. Camera cuts to Ricky Starks looking absolutely mortified.
  • Lucha Bros def. Dontae Smiley and Maxx Stardom
  • Dark Order (5 and 10) def. Ryzin and Xander Gold
  • Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss def. Kevin Blackwood/Daniel Garcia
  • Billy and Austin Gunn def. M’Badu and Cruz
  • Serena Deeb def. KiLynn King.
  • Ben Carter def. Lee Johnson. Go watch this match. It is absolutely amazing. Go watch it. Now.
  • Eddie Kingston def. Brian Pillman Jr.

AEW Late Night Dynamite

  • Scorpio Sky def. Ben Carter. Carter continued to show off his athletic ability in this match, and while it wasn’t as good as his match on AEW Dark, it was still a solid match. While I was never in doubt of Sky winning, there was one false fall in particular that was tense.
  • Anna Jay def. Brandi Rhodes. The Dark Order escorted Anna to the ring and the match began. Anna tried to choke out Brandi a couple of times but it didn’t work. Brandi pinned Anna for more than 3, but the ref was distracted by Grayson and Uno. Anna got back up, and finally was able to choke Brandi out for the win. Great match.
  • Brief backstage interview with Scorpio Sky. Scorpio talks about how he’s going to continue to get better. Sydal comes out. The two are friendly and talk about how they should go out afterwards.
  • Shawn Spears def. Matt Sydal. The two went at it, with Sydal going for the high flying moves and Shawn sticking to more grounded, harder hits. After a while, Shawn slipped the slug into his glove and got the win over Sydal. He went for another hit after the match but Scorpio Sky ran out to save him.

Twitter Happenings and Misc

  • This Evil Uno tweet made me laugh. Nothing more than that.
  • Dax called the Bucks cowards in a pretty good burn.
  • The AEW podcast had the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy.
  • Thunder Rosa cut a promo after her match last week.
  • Sammy’s vlog features Sammy getting off on a bad foot with Miro, QT Marshall gets upset, MJF thinks Sammy has been fired, and more.
