Marvel Comics launches ‘Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices’ trailer

Get another look at the highly-anticipated issue of ‘Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices’ #1 coming in November!

Announced back in August, Marvel Comics has launched a new trailer highlighting the upcoming Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices #1 comic book one-shot. Get an inside look at the upcoming title via X-Men Monday #80 where we speak to Darcie Little Badger.

The one-shot is lead by Jeffrey Veregge in addition to many acclaimed creators set to explore the legacy and experiences of Marvel’s cast of Indigenous characters. Veregge just wrapped up his exhibition Jeffrey Veregge: Of Gods and Heroes at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and will write and draw a story.

Also contributing is Hugo, Nebula, and Locus-award winning Black/Ohkay Owingeh writer Rebecca Roanhorse and Tongva artist Weshoyot Alvitre telling an Echo tale as she is set to play a critical role in Marvel Comics. Geoscientist and Lipan Apache writer Darcie Little Badger joins acclaimed Whitefish Lake First Nation artist Kyle Charles for a Dani Moonstar story where she will face the crucial question of what her Indigenous heritage means in the new era of mutantkind. And Bram Stoker-winning horror writer Stephen Graham Jones of the Blackfeet Nation teams up with Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation artist David Cutler to revisit one of the darkest spots of X-Men history!

New York, NY— October 22, 2020 — Next month, celebrated writer and artist Jeffrey Veregge leads a team of Native American and Indigenous creators in the landmark special, MARVEL’S VOICES: INDIGENOUS VOICES #1. Together, this incredible cast of talent will explore the legacy and experiences of Marvel’s most prominent Indigenous characters in a series of thrilling stories.

First, Hugo, Nebula, and Locus-award winning Black/Ohkay Owingeh writer Rebecca Roanhorse and Tongva artist Weshoyot Alvitre bring fans an Echo tale like none before, setting the character up for a surprising comeback in the near future. Then, Geoscientist and Lipan Apache writer Darcie Little Badger joins acclaimed Whitefish Lake First Nation artist Kyle Charles for a Dani Moonstar story where she will face the crucial question of what her Indigenous heritage means in the new era of mutantkind.

“I am immensely grateful to be part of this project. The New Mutants (and other Marvel heroes) have made such a positive impact on my life, and I have a great deal of respect and affection for X-Men characters,” Darcie Little Badger told AiPT in a recent interview. “The fact that Indigenous Voices gave me the opportunity to contribute to the X-Men universe means everything. I take the responsibility very seriously and am honored to work with my Indigenous Voices co-creators.”

Fans will also enjoy a dark tale about Silver Fox before she met Wolverine by Bram Stoker-winning horror writer Stephen Graham Jones of the Blackfeet Nation and Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation artist David Cutler. In addition, the issue will feature commentary by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas and writer B. Earl.
