AIPT has existed for nine years, and in that time we have grown to be a trusted destination for comic book reviews, previews, opinions and criticism, as well as branched out into multiple different pop culture fandoms, including movies, pro wrestling and gaming. Since those early days, we have grown from a small group of real-life friends to having over 60 contributors, and have built a small community we are proud to be a part of and facilitate.
Today, we enter a new chapter for AIPT with the launch of our Patreon. While we have grown over the years, we are still not backed by big company or financial investors. Independent comics journalism is also not exactly the most lucrative market. As our traffic and back catalog of content has increased, so have our hosting and advertising costs, so we have until now not been able to compensate our contributors. That’s where the Patreon comes in!
Our plan with the Patreon is to give every cent generated back to our contributors. We love doing this and do it solely because we love it. We also love every writer who contributes to AIPT and its community. We really want take AIPT from a pure passion project to something that can also generate some revenue for the people who so graciously contribute to the site.
In addition to helping compensate our team and supporting independent comics journalism, if you become a Patron you get access to a whole host of benefits, including a Discord community filled with other like-minded people, ad-free browsing on AIPT and a hard copy trade paperback graphic novel sent to you every month. The Discord in particular is a very exciting new venture for us. We have long had a vibrant community of comic book fans and fans of all types of pop culture, and we think we can build an even better one by including our Patrons. If you sign up for the Discord tier or higher, you will be invited to this community where you can interact with other like-minded AIPT readers, and interact with our editors where you can suggest podcast topics, get an advanced scoop on articles coming down the pipeline, and a lot more.
