In 1990, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired on NBC. The beloved show ran for six seasons and served as a spring board for Will Smith’s acting career. Next week, HBO Max will air an unscripted special celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the series. In anticipation for the event, Smith released a trailer for the reunion.
The star will be joined by castmates Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, and Carlton himself, Alfonso Ribeiro along with Smith’s musical partner and recurring character, DJ Jazzy Jeff. The original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert, makes an appearance when Smith interviews her for an emotional and earnest conversation.
The special is shot on the set of the iconic Banks’ home and will be a fun and heartfelt evening of music, dancing (Tom Jones anyone?) and an introspective look examining the cultural impact The Fresh Price of Bel-Air has had since its premiere 30 years ago.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion will launch exclusively on HBO Max on Thursday, November 19. The streaming service is also home to the full original library of the series in the United States if you feel like going back and rewatching your favorite moments.
