Yesterday, Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Lynne Ramsay will be directing an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1999 novel, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.
Ramsay is best known for writing and directing the 2017 film You Were Never Really Here. She also adapted and directed 2011’s We Need to Talk About Kevin, which is exceptionally good.
As far as the source material for this film is concerned, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon has been on my reading list for a while, but I haven’t gotten to it. The story involves a girl getting lost in the woods who ends up being stalked by a supernatural creature that may or may not be a hallucination. As you might imagine, she is also a huge fan of the real life three time All-Star relief pitcher, Tom Gordon.
The film’s script was co-written by Ramsay and Christy Hall, who is one of the creators behind Netflix’s adaptation I Am Not Okay With This.

I’ve heard great things about the The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon from both die hard Stephen King fans and those who don’t read him very much. Considering the phenomenal work Ramsay has done adapting and directing psychological thrillers before, this should be a good one.
