Yesterday, Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that Stacy Osei-Kuffour will be writing the script for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Blade movie.
Osei-Kuffour is a playwright who has recently made her presence known in the television industry. In addition to earning a 2019 Emmy nomination for her writing on the comedy Pen15, she was on the writing team for HBO’s incredible/award winning Watchmen series.
Osei-Kuffour is also a trailblazer. At the time of her nomination for the Outstanding Writing For a Comedy Series, she was only the third Black woman to receive a nomination in that category in the Emmy’s 71-year history.
Now with Blade, Osei-Kuffour will be the first Black woman to write a movie for Marvel Studios.

While I admittedly know nothing about Pen15, her work on Watchmen makes me very excited to see what she’ll do with Marvel’s badass vampire slayer.
Combine this news with Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali in the film’s title role, and I’m officially way more pumped for a Blade reboot than I ever thought possible.
