Starwars.com had the scoop on a new Star Wars event that’ll kick off in May and run through October called War of the Bounty Hunters. Teased yesterday and featuring Boba Fett in all black, the series will kick off the biggest Star Wars event yet at Marvel Comics.
It all starts in War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha #1 from writer Charles Soule and artist Steve McNiven on May 5, and that will spin out into Marvel’s entire post-Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back comics line which includes Star Wars, Bounty Hunters, Darth Vader, and Doctor Aphra.
War of the Bounty Hunters will run for five issues from Soule and artist Luke Ross, starting in June.
So what’s it about?
The story will focus on what Boba Fett was up to between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi after collecting Han Solo in carbonite. As Soule puts it in his interview with StarWars.com, “The main story that we’re dealing with is a Boba Fett-focused crime epic, that involves Boba Fett going up against some of the heaviest hitters in the galaxy. It’s Jabba the Hutt. It’s Black Sun. It’s Darth Vader. And a bunch of others — factions and so on — that I think will be really interesting for the fans,” says Soule. “It’s basically Boba Fett, by himself, against all of these people.”
