Marvel First Look: ‘Heroes Reborn’ #1

New preview pages from ‘Heroes Reborn’ revealed. Out in May!

Jason Aaron spoke with comicbook.com exclusively about the upcoming Heroes Reborn event and along with new insight into the series was newly revealed unlettered art. Set for release May 5th, the series was first announced on January 25th. Aaron explained the series plays into what he and artist Ed McGuiness has built with the Squadron Supreme in the Avengers series.

In fact, they are the world’s greatest heroes, and “When Galactus first came to earth, it wasn’t the Fantastic Four who were there to face him. When the Green Goblin threw someone to their death from the George Washington Bridge, it wasn’t Spider-Man who was there screaming. When a Civil War tore apart the Marvel heroes, it wasn’t Iron Man and Captain America who were fighting at its center. Heroes Reborn drops us into the middle of a world where the Marvel landscape has been radically recast and reshuffled, in some ways that I think will be surprising,” Aaron told comicbook.com.

So what’s Heroes Reborn #1 about?

REBORN #1 will welcome readers to a world where Tony Stark never built the Iron Man armor. Where Thor is a hard-drinking atheist who despises hammers. Where Wakanda is dismissed as a myth. And where Captain America was never found in the ice because there were no Avengers to find him. Instead, this world has always been protected by Earth’s Mightiest Heroes: the Squadron Supreme of America. And now, the Squadron faces an attack from some of their fiercest enemies, including Dr. Juggernaut, the Black Skull, the Silver Witch and Thanos with his Infinity Rings. But why is the Daywalker Blade the only man alive who seems to remember that the entire world has somehow been…reborn?

“This story really has nothing whatsoever to do with the original Heroes Reborn event,” Aaron added. “The only similarity is that this is a look into another version of the Marvel Universe, one familiar in some ways, but profoundly and fundamentally changed in others. I’m quite confident in saying it’s a world unlike any version of the Marvel U we’ve ever seen before.”

From the preview pages, we can see a Hulk/Doctor Doom amalgam is fighting Hyperion, Nighthawk appears to be fighting off a Symbiote from the Capitol (likely the Hydra/Venom Amalgam), Power Princess is fighting Mangog, and Nighthawk encountering Blade who has taken out a whole bunch of Hydra agents (presumably inside the Capitol).
