On Friday, Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Netflix and Skydance Media are teaming up to turn the Terminator franchise into an anime series.
I know…it threw me at first, too.
But while this may be an unexpected direction for the franchise, it could also be all types of great–especially with The Batman writer Matt Tomlinson set to be showrunner and an executive producer.

Terminator 2 (TriStar Pictures)
From the story side of things, Terminator being turned into a series gives the narrative a chance to develop and iron out its convoluted time travel structure rather than jamming things into individual films. The Sarah Connor Chronicles already proved it can be done well–and that was working mostly out of one era.
Also, just imagine all the top notch animation that could be produced involving all the action sequences and future war scenes.
I’m not normally a huge anime fan, but you better believe I’ll be checking this one out.
