‘Ironheart’: Chinaka Hodge named as showrunner for upcoming Disney+ series

Hodge will be the head writer/showrunner for ‘Ironheart’ with the rest of her staff be selected next month.

On Tuesday, Joe Otterson of Deadline.com exclusively revealed that writer and educator Chinaka Hodge will serve as showrunner for the upcoming Ironheart series.

The news was quickly followed by a report from the Hollywood Reporter that the series’ first season will be six episode and that the rest of Ironheart‘s writing staff would be selected next month.

Chinaka Hodge/Ironheart

Chinaka Hodge is an accomplished poet and playwright who’s no slouch in the screenwriting department, either. In addition to being on the writing staff for Snowpiercer and serving as executive story editor for Amazing Stories, she’s the writer/co-creator of Ryan Coogler’s upcoming Scenes for Minors, which will explore institutionalization in America’s youth facilities.

Hodge is also a teacher who spent years working with underserved kids, which obviously makes me an instant fan. It should be a lot of fun to see what she can do with one of Marvel’s best new characters.
