On Monday, Justin Kroll of Deadline.com revealed that acclaimed actress/director Regina King has been tapped by Legendary Pictures to helm their upcoming adaptation of Bitter Root. As if that weren’t cool enough, AIPT favorite Bryan Edward Hill is working on the script.

If you are a fan of genre television, then you are likely already a fan of Regina King due to her Emmy winning performance in HBO’s Watchmen. She was also recently nominated by the Director’s Guild Association for the ‘Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a First Time Feature Film’ award for her Oscar nominated One Night in Miami.
So yeah, the movie is definitely in good hands.
As far as the source material is concerned, Bitter Root is an Eisner nominated series written by David Walker and Chuck Brown with artwork by Saford Greene. The story revolves around a family of monster hunters facing a new and terrible evil during the 1920s-era Harlem Renaissance.
It should be all types of fun to see King and Hill’s vision of the series come to life on the big screen.
