‘Bitter Root’ #14 to celebrate Juneteenth with commemorative cover

The ‘Bitter Root’ #14 Juneteenth cover can be purchased in comic book shops June 23rd.

It was revealed today by Image Comics that Bitter Root #14 will feature a special commemorative cover to celebrate Juneteenth. The series is by creators Chuck Brown, David F. Walker, and Sanford Greene, and the commemorative cover is also by Greene. The cover will be available in comic book shops on June 23rd. Bitter Root was in the news last week as it was revealed actor Regina King will be directing a movie adaptation.

“Team Bitter Root has always been committed to acknowledging a very rich history within the work we do, and this commemorative Juneteenth cover is our way of celebrating an occasion that speaks to the heart and soul of what this series is about and the culture we honor,” said Walker.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. Juneteenth is commemorated on the anniversary date of the June 19, 1865 announcement by Union Army General Gordon Granger, proclaiming freedom from slavery in Texas.
