There will be new mystical threats revealed in ‘The Death of Doctor Strange’ this September and November.

Press Release

Marvel Comics has revealed we’re all getting three new mothers this September and November as The Death of Doctor Strange to introduce new mystical threats. These threats will be introduced in November’s Death of Doctor Strange #3: The Three Mothers. The main series is written by Jed MacKay with art by Lee Garbett, as their series will present the final saga of Stephen Strange and explore the dangerous repercussions his death will unleash on the world he guarded.

All three mothers are designed by Lee Garbett. Here’s a breakdown:

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

The Wyrd, an alien mage-priestess
The Crown, a powerful warrior-queen
The Crawling, a monstress composed of acid-mouthed worms.

Per the press release sent to AIPT:

Will they be the Marvel Universe’s undoing? And were they the ones who killed Stephen Strange?! In the vein of the Thanos’ legendary Black Order, don’t dare miss the debut of the next great Marvel villain team!

Also revealed today, Alyssa Wong will team up with artist Andie Tong in Death of Doctor Strange: White Fox #1. That story will see Ami Han, the last of the mystical shape-shifting Kumiho, tested by a mysterious threat with dark ties to White Fox’s origin. This one-shot will also guest star Sword Master and Tiger Division and will lay the groundwork for upcoming stories starring these heroes.

Also revealed, MacKay and artist Marcelo Ferreira will have a Spider-Man one-shot in the event that will reveal Doctor Strange had a last request for Spider-Man in case of his death, but will current Spider-Man Ben Reilly be up to the task? Also expect Black Cat in this story!
