On Monday, Hasbro used their Fan First Monday livestream to reveal even more new Marvel Legends action figures coming our way in 2021. While the Star Wars team continues to struggle getting main/popular characters on the shelves, the Legends crew will be closing out the year with a bunch — and some that are so obscure even a huge Marvel fan like me had to look them up.
But first, let’s look at the return of Marvel’s First Family return to action figure prominence.
Retro Collection Fantastic Four
All of the following figures are scheduled to be available individually for preorder by Tuesday at 1:00 PM EDT. They also aren’t exclusives, so you’ll be able to buy them from the online retailer of your choice.
Reed Richards
Hasbro’s insistence on using plastic capes/jackets basically ruined their recent Hood figure. This time, however, they provided two sets of arm with Mister Fantastic so he can easily show off his lab coat fit.
Also, you gotta love that studly facial portrait.
Invisible Woman
Poor Sue Storm, on the other hand, looks like she stuck her face in a wasp nest. Thankfully, there’s another version of her that we’ll be checking out in a little bit.
Human Torch
If you’re a sucker for translucent figures like I am, then you gotta love this one. Add in the great comic line work (along with the facial portrait/expression) and Johnny Storm is going to be a tough one to pass up.
Like his sister Sue, there’s another version of this figure/character coming up later in the article.
The Thing
Not sure if I’m going to get this one. If I do, then Ben Grimm will definitely be sporting the snarling head from the first picture. That second one looks I did when my wife tried to show me how to fold a fitted a sheet.
Now let’s take a look at the last two figures in the wave, which I’m guessing no one expected to ever see in action figure form.
Psycho-Man
It’s hard to get excited about a character I know nothing about, but Pyscho-Man‘s pinless articulation and all new sculpt/tooling makes for an exceptional looking action figure.
High Evolutionary
I’m a little bit more familiar with High Evolutionary, but not enough to want the figure. That being said, the pinless articulation and beautiful detailing on the tunic deserve some praise.
Now let’s take a look at the two Fantastic Four figures that will be exclusively available from Hasbro Pulse (preorders also begin on Tuesday afternoon).
Invisible Sue Storm
While I love translucent characters, this is the first time I’ve ever found myself blown away by a translucent Invisible Woman figure.
Powered Down/Powering Up Human Torch
On the flip side of that, I’ve always preferred translucent Human Torch figures. In this case, however, I absolutely love the sculpt, portrait, and flame effects. This might have to be the first non-flame Johnny Storm figure to take up space on my Marvel shelf.
Let’s take a look at one more Hasbro Pulse exclusive before checking out a mutant boxset that will (hopefully) make our X-Man Editor Chris Hassan squeal with delight.
Shadowland Hand Ninja
I really wish Hasbro had these great/lower priced army builders for their 3.75 Marvel Universe line. If they had, I would’ve totally filled up my Daredevil shelf with Hand Ninjas.
Anyway, let’s check out some ’90s inspired X-Force figures, shall we?
X-Force Box Set
This 3-pack will be exclusive to both Hasbro Pulse and ShopDisney.com with preorders opening on Tuesday.
Two of the figures were already revealed back in April, but as digital renderings. Now we get to see them (along with a completely unexpected addition to the Marvel Legends line) in their fully posable glory.
Cannonball
Rejoice! It’s a new version of Cannonball that includes the legs everyone said they wanted, but will never use in their displays!
The figure also comes with an improved blast effect/stand and an alternate head.
Domino
I definitely prefer my modern Marvel Legends version of this character, but major props to the Hasbro team for nailing her ’90s look.
Rictor
Eat your heart out, Fabio.
Between the long hair, shoulder pads, knee-high boots, neon green accessories, and extraneous pockets, you really can’t get much more ’90s than this Rictor figure.
News and Rumors
- The Galactus HasLab campaign is going strong, but they still need more people willing to give up all their shelf space to get the figure funded.
- The stretch goal Frankie Ray Nova figure can be snapped into Galactus’s hand via an flame effect that she will come with (if the campaign reaches 16,000 units backed)
- The livestream finished with a teaser of a random hand that I couldn’t identify. If you can, then please do not hesitate to shame me in the comments.
