Alice Waddington to direct ‘Dept. H’ adaptation for Netflix

Matt and Sharlene Kindt’s Dark Horse series is coming to Netflix.

On Tuesday, Justin Kroll of Deadline exclusively revealed that Spanish director Alice Waddington has been tapped to helm Netflix’s adaption of Darkhorse Comics’ Dept. H. Waddington made a splash in 2019 with Paradise Hills.

The film’s script will be written by T.S. Nowlin, who penned all three adaptations of the The Maze Runner book series.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with Dept. H, the ongoing comic (by Matt and Sharlene Kindt) revolves around a woman who’s tasked with investigating potential sabotage and bizarre occurrences at an underwater research station…including the death of her father.

As you might imagine, the underwater environment combined with murder and monsters makes for a tense/terrifying environment.

Dept. H

This one has been on my reading list for a long time, but seeing that it’s going to be made into a film (and that it involves all types of sea monsters) is likely going to move the book up quite a few spots so I read it first.

There currently isn’t any casting or production news, but that’s likely to be revealed over the coming months.
