Return to the world of replicants in Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Then, four survivors of a plane crash try to put their lives together again in Yellowjackets.

A Different Side of Common Things

Docuseries can sometimes contain dry material when they explore subjects as denim, RVs and swimming pools. One way to spice it up is to invest in a charismatic host. In The World According to Jeff Goldblum, the titular actor brings a wide eyed and open-minded curiosity to any subject along with his quirky charm.

Streaming service, Disney+, has big plans to celebrate the second anniversary of their launch and that includes releasing the first half of the show’s second season. This time around, Goldblum investigates and provides his own commentary on a number of topics including fireworks, magic, and dance. It’s always more fun learning things with Jeff.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum returns with the first five episodes of season two on Friday, November 12, on Disney+.

Ten Years Later

Before the premiere of Blade Runner 2049, a series of short films were released serving as prequels to the movie. Among them is the anime, Blade Runner Black Out 2022. Its story will continue in an upcoming series that is co-produced by Crunchyroll and Adult Swim and is created in partnership with Alcon Television Group.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus occurs a decade later in the aftermath of the Black Out events. It will cover a new side of the universe and follows a young woman who wakes up in Los Angeles. She has no idea of her past but possesses deadly skills that will be helpful for her to survive. Her only clues of who she is are a locked data device and a tattoo of a black lotus. She must solve her mystery to take care of the people responsible for her situation.

The first two episodes of Blade Runner: Black Lotus will air late night Saturday late, November 13, on Adult Swim.

Trying to Move On

In Yellowjackets, a talented high school girl soccer team experience a horrible plane crash in the Ontario Wilderness. Four teens manage to survive the accident and try to reassimilate into society after being rescued.

The narrative jumps back in forth in time between when the teens were in high school and 25 years later with them as adults. Over the course of the season, we learn what types of horrors the girls had to endure to survive along with seeing them cope with the trauma as adults.

Yellowjackets premieres Sunday, November 14, on Showtime.
